For senior leaders who operate in demanding, accountable environments – and who want a coach who genuinely understands what that feels like from the inside
What do you need support with?
what to expect
A different kind of executive coach
Most executive coaches come from consultancy or corporate HR. Andy Mitchell comes from somewhere else entirely.
For 30 years, he led organisations through complexity, crisis, growth and transformation in one of the UK’s most demanding, publicly scrutinised environments – managing large teams and budgets, driving turnarounds, building organisations from the ground up, and developing leaders at every level.
Originally a national-level sportsman and performance coach, he has spent decades applying elite performance principles to real-world leadership under pressure.
Now completing his ILM Level 7 Diploma in Executive Coaching and Mentoring, Andy works across sectors. He doesn’t bring a rigid framework – just lived experience of high-stakes leadership, and the discipline to use it in service of you.
Because the challenges that matter most – clarity, decision-making, change, culture, performance – are the same in every environment.

Leadership Transition Coaching
“Stepping into a bigger role is the moment most leaders most need support — and the moment they are least likely to ask for it.”
What to expect
The first 90 to 180 days in a new role are among the highest-risk periods in any leader’s career. The skills that secured the promotion are not always the skills that will make you effective in it. Andy has navigated multiple leadership transitions himself – taking over failing organisations, building new ones from scratch, moving from practitioner to chief executive. He understands transition from the inside, and what it takes to establish authority before the window closes.
Further information
What it involves
- Pre-transition or early-tenure sessions focused on clarity of purpose, understanding the new landscape and identifying the relationships that will determine early success
- Structured 90-day plan developed collaboratively – establishing quick wins, longer-term priorities and personal leadership goals
- Coaching sessions throughout the transition to process challenges, sustain confidence and adjust approach in real time
- Stakeholder mapping and influencing strategy – understanding the cultural and political landscape quickly, and building trust before it is needed
- Resilience and energy management throughout – sustainable transition requires the leader to manage their own capacity as carefully as their organisation’s performance

Performance & Resilience Coaching
“Sustained high performance is not about working harder. It is about working with greater clarity, better recovery and a deeper understanding of what drives you.”
What to expect
Andy was a national-level athlete and sponsored performance coach before he became an organisational leader. He has spent three decades applying the principles of elite sport psychology to the realities of leading complex organisations under pressure. This service is for leaders who are performing well but want to perform at a consistently higher level – or who feel their performance has plateaued and want to understand why.
Further information
What it involves
- Performance diagnostic at the outset – exploring current patterns, energy management, decision-making under pressure and the leader’s relationship with failure and setback
- Coaching using performance psychology frameworks from elite sport – mental rehearsal, process focus, recovery discipline and managing performance anxiety
- Development of a personal performance framework – a clear, evidence-based understanding of the conditions under which this leader performs at their best
- Accountability structure – regular check-ins to assess what is working, what is not and what needs to change
- Wellbeing integrated throughout – sustainable performance requires the leader to take their own energy as seriously as their organisation’s output
Format
Available as:

Crisis Leadership & Organisational Recovery
“Every leader will face a moment when the organisation they lead is under serious threat. How they lead in that moment defines everything that comes after.”
what to expect
Andy has led organisations through crises that would have broken less resilient leaders – a global pandemic with 120 vulnerable people in his care every day, public designation as a failing organisation, restructures affecting jobs and livelihoods, and the existential pressures that come with intense external scrutiny. He knows what it feels like to be the person at the front of the room when the answers are not clear and the stakes are both professional and personal. This service is for leaders currently navigating a significant crisis – or leading the recovery that follows one.
Further information
What it involves
- Confidential crisis coaching – a structured, safe space to think clearly, prioritise effectively and maintain personal stability when the pressure is most intense
- Decision-making under uncertainty – frameworks for acting decisively with incomplete information and communicating confidently when certainty is not available

Talent Development
- Growing your next generation of leaders
“The best investment any organisation makes is in the leaders who are not yet leading at their full potential.”
what to expect
Andy’s career has been defined as much by the leaders he developed as by the organisations he led. He established a national teacher training partnership with Warwick University, delivered induction programmes for newly appointed leaders for a local authority, and built a track record of developing talent from within.
This service is designed to be commissioned by organisations on behalf of their high-potential leaders – the people who will shape the organisation’s future and who need structured support to get there faster.
Further information
What it involves
- Three-way scoping conversation – commissioning organisation, Andy and the individual – establishing development goals, capability gaps and the agreed boundaries of confidentiality
- Psychometric profiling used at the outset – establishing a clear development baseline and identifying the leader’s natural style, blind spots and growth edges
- 6 to 12 coaching sessions focused on the specific capabilities needed at the next level – strategic thinking, influencing without authority, managing upwards, building team culture
- Practical application between sessions – real-world leadership challenges used as coaching material, turning everyday organisational life into a continuous development environment
- End-of-programme summary for the commissioning organisation – focused on development progress and forward recommendations, with full coachee consent maintained throughout
Format
Available as:

Pricing Rationale
Why two rates - and why they are different from education sector fees
Corporate rate - £450 per session
The corporate rate reflects the market for an ILM Level 7 qualified coach with 30 years of real senior leadership experience, operating outside London.
UK market data places qualified executive coaching at £350–£600 per session for senior leaders. At £450, Andy’s rate sits squarely in the credible mid-market – below the London premium, significantly below the top-tier coaching market, and accessible to leaders at director and senior manager level without requiring a corporate L&D budget to commission.
Charity / Not-For-Profit rate - £375 per session (aligned with the education sector coaching rate
The charity rate is aligned with Andy’s coaching rate for school headteachers – a deliberate and principled choice. Both sectors share the same structural reality: constrained budgets, chronically underfunded professional development, and leaders making consequential decisions with less support than their commercial counterparts.
A charity CEO and a headteacher face remarkably similar pressures. Charging them differently for identical work would be difficult to justify. The charity rate represents a genuine 17% saving on the corporate rate – a meaningful reduction that reflects values, not an inability to deliver.
Why these differ from education sector fees?
Education sector services (school performance reviews, improvement planning, inclusion audits) are priced at £675 per engagement because they involve a significantly different model of work: substantial pre-visit data analysis, a full day on-site, and a written report delivered within five working days. These are day-based consultancy commissions with a reporting component — not pure coaching sessions.
Coaching sessions in this document involve none of that additional preparation or reporting work, which is why the comparison is not like-for-like. The coaching rate for headteachers (£375 per session) sits below the corporate rate for the same reason that the charity rate does — education sector budgets, while varying significantly by context, are subject to similar structural constraints.
